IDE Flexibility

The following table describes several ways in which the CodeWarrior IDE provides flexibility.
Multiple hosts
You can run the IDE on a variety of host computers while you develop software. The CodeWarrior product that you purchased determines the hosts available to you.
Multiple platform targets
The CodeWarrior product that you purchased determines the platform targets for which you can create code. For example, you can use the IDE to develop software for Pentium¨ computers running the Microsoft¨ Windows¨ operating system.
Multiple programming languages
You can use the IDE to develop a program, plug-in, library, or other executable code using different programming languages such as C, C++, and Java.
Plug-in architecture
A plug-in is a small, loadable code module that extends the functionality of the parent program. The IDE uses plug-ins to support several tools, including the compilers, linkers, and the CodeWarrior debugger.
The IDE may also include additional plug-ins, depending on the version that you purchased. You can also use third-party plug-in tools, such as plug-in compilers and debuggers.
